What is IP based Eftpos (BroadBand)?

IP stands for Internet Protocol. In other words instead of using the phone line where your terminal dials out as you would when making a telephone call, your Eftpos terminal simply sends the data to ETSL or ANZ via your Broadband internet connection.

How much faster will it be?

Typically our customers who have upgraded from dial up Eftpos to IP based experience twice the transaction speeds of their pre exsisting dial up terminals, meaning faster transactions speeds, improved customer experiences and improved customer through put.

Can I use the phone and Eftpos at the same time?

Yes, exactly the same as a typical home broadband set up where the phone and broadband share the same phone line with no effect on each other.

I already have broadband at the site, can i use this?

Yes, a standard Internet router will run our IP based terminals. ACR Systems will provide any other equipment required such as switches cables etc as part of the lease.

I don't have broadband, how do I arrange this?

Simply contact Telecom or your ISP and request a minimum plan (around $20 per month) Telecom will send you a router and connect your line. Alternativley ACR Systems will liase with Telecom on your behalf and arrange everything. It's all part of the service.

I have muliple terminals, do they all need their own Broadband connection?

No, If you have multiples like a Bar, large retailer, Hotel etc ACR Eftpos will arrange cabling to connect all the terminals back to where the Telecom connection is so they all run off the one internet connection. One of our customers has saved $220 per month doing this enabling him to cancel the 5 phone lines running his old eftpos solution.

What happens if my Internet goes down?

Depending on where you are, internet failure is rare. In the event of failure and you have EOV activated, your terminals will activate EOV** With EOV activated you can proccess eftpos transactions (No Cash Outs, and one transaction per terminal per customer). Transactions are saved and sent to your payment gateway when connection is restored.

What if I need to do Cash Outs and multiple sales to customers and the internet goes down?

On all our Broadband installs we try to split off one of your voice phone lines into the network and connect it to 1 or two terminals. In the event of no internet your terminals after 2 failed transactions will automatically change to secondary comms (Dial Up).** You may not be able to use that phone line for voice but you can still trade and perform cash outs. If all lines and internet are down then you still have EOV*

If need cabling how much will this cost?

Cabling costs all depend on how many terminal jacks, distance and obstructions. Typically allow for $110.00 per eftpos terminal as an average, this can be built into your lease meaning no upfront costs to convert to broadband.

Who organises the cabling?

We have a vast amount of experience arranging cabling for our POS customers. We can arrange a Cabling quotation and implementation anywhere in NZ, all fully managed on your behalf. It's all part of the service.

I have a Cadmus Network inplace already, can i use this?

No the Cadmus multi drop LANS are not configured for true IP Eftpos even with Cadmus devices. In many situations we can adapt the Cadmus LAN to run IP or at the very least re use the cables and jack ports to save money. Again this is arranged by us on your behalf and can be part of the lease to avoid upfront cost.

*EOV must be activated with you bank

**Only Verifone Vx510, Vx570 & Duet terminals will automatically change over to secondary comms & EOV Cadmus terminals must be manually changed over.
